Write What You Know.
An attempt at the classic adage.
Jul 11, 2026
What is this? What do I actually know? And why am I referring to myself as Skeleton? Allow me to offer a brief overview of what’s to come by answering these questions.
What is this?
This is, as the title’s companion alluded to, an attempt at what many writers, friends, acquaintances, and even my grandmother have said to me over the years. Write what you know. I don’t like that phrase solely because who cares what I know. I’m more interested in knowing I don’t know things. But… after having written a couple novels over the years that both cover topics and ideas that greatly interest me as a writer of vaguely-speculative fiction, maybe it is time to write about what I do know.
Do I know anything?
God, who knows?
